Edvard Munch used to take photos of himself with his artworks. He thought of the art as his children and the photos as family portraits. He also used to leave ‘his children’ outside in below zero temperature’s to toughen them up. Probably a good thing he had no actual children. Here I am, with my ‘Art in Mind’ children.
And then from the dark rose a small creature, and it did have a belly. And unto its belly it was given some legs with sucery things on. From it came a head and on that head came twisty things, yea, which also came out of its bum, then some more, from its back. And it was dark and devilish. Thus the creature was finished, so its creator stood and said “behold! The Collfacecaterpillar!” And it was good.
Yo yo yo, I have been neglecting my blog terribly. But with good reason. I have been madly preparing for my first ever exhibition! Huzzah! Check it out y’all:
And here are a few of the drawings I will be showing. They look a lot better in person though so if you get a chance, please have a look!
The laptop on my lap is burning my legs and making me sweat profusely. But I will not be deterred. I shall post a new blog! It will probably just be a little rubbish as the heat plus the women’s modern pentathlon is disorientating. Any ho, the past couple of weeks I have been obsessing over the Olympics, after today I will be having severe withdrawal, working out, I am actually in the process of joining a gym to combat the obesity, I just need to find one with changing rooms with no wet hairs or plasters in the pool, not an easy feat let me tell you, and the biggest news of all, I have two new guinea pigs! I have managed to draw in between petting and brushing, trying to work out what the various noises they make mean and getting weed on. I have also managed to set up one of those Etsy shop thingys, http://www.etsy.com/people/collfacekilla?ref=si_pr very productive of me, now if I can only work out how to get links from my pics on this page to the shop I can post this thing! What are you squeaking at?! Are you happy or hungry? What is that, did you just poo on me?! Are these woman actually shooting with laser guns and then running around a show jumping course? What is going on?!!
GO TEAM GRB!! So this weekend was all about cycling. I watched the men’s road race on Saturday. This was the first time I have ever watched any sort of competitive road cycling and it turns out its very complex. I was confused for a very long time and then learnt that 90% of the GB team entered the race with no intention of actually winning! They were there to help their main boy Cavendish win….which he didn’t. Still it was inspiring and I have decided cycling is my new favorite sport. To add to my excitement, when cycling home that evening I cycled past the Morocco cycling team car, carrying the miserable defeated cyclists and their fancy bikes. This was the first I had watched any sort of competitive cycling, however, I myself, am basically a pro cyclist, well I cycle 4.5 miles to work and the 4.5 miles back again, in about 35 minutes either way….so not quite good enough to be in team GB but still! Anyways, on my way home from work on Friday I somehow managed to participate in a huge cycle protest. I was happily cycling along Bethnal Green road when I joined what was apparently a huge protest put on by a group called critical mass. People were cheering me on, police turned up, I was confused. It was marvelous. All of this was greatly inspiring and I drew the below picture as a result. GO CYCLING GO!!!
Yes! Hello world. I have finally created a technological thing to showcase my drawings to the world! It was hard work, the computer kept asking me about Gavatar, I don’t know who he is, there were tears. But anyway, it is here now for you all to enjoy. I will be updating as often as humanly possible with all things arty. There are contact details floating around here somewhere so if you see something you like, or have an idea for a commissioned piece, get in touch! And to kick things off, here are my three most recent commissioned works.
